Saint Etienne – Valencia CF Recap

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

As you all know I really believed in Valencia CF yesterday. But I have to be honest and say that if I would have known the weather situation in France i would have never touched that game. The pitch was looking like the Woodstock Festival in the second half with all the mud that came with the snow. It was impossible to play any kind of quality football and the players were resorting to the long and high balls all of the time.

The 2-1 goals for Saint Etienne that came just before the end of the second half is proof of the fact that the pitch the teams were playing on was in very poor condition. But there are no excused for the mistake made by the Valencia keeper that made it very easy for Etienne to score the 2-1 goal.

After Valencia scored the 2-2 goal in the 72nd minute it was all about Valencia attacking and St Etienne had to defend. But there were no really great chances the last 20 minutes and the 2-2 result felt fair even though i would have loved to see Valencia win.

Saint Etienne – Valencia CF Prediction

Saint Etienne is a good team at their home pitch but they are suffering from injuries on some of their key players and at the same time Valancia are sending their best team to France and they are going to give it all to win this game.

Saint Etienne are already through to the next round so they dont really need a win here which means that they will probably not risk playing with some of the players that have minor injuries. Valencia on the other hand have a lot to play for in this game as they would win their group if they should manage to win this game.

My pick in this game is Valencia to the odds of 2.35 at Bet365.
